Mental Health in Schools

QC Student Welfare Campaign

The QC Student Welfare Campaign’s mission is to uplift student issues by working with the community toward the improvement of student mental health through policy advocacy and service expansion within the school systems.

We have held a dozen listening sessions in middle and high schools across Rock Island, IL. From these listening sessions, we heard from over 50 individual students on the biggest obstacles in receiving adequate mental health support from their teachers and administrators. We have hosted 5 local leadership trainings for youth on how to self-advocate and be their own voices. We continue to meet with Rock Island/Milan School Board members on implementing mandatory trauma informed training for staff and faculty in the schools.
